Curious Eats Logo // Kulur Swatches

Curious Eats // Colour Logo Development

I have had to go back and take another look at the colours for the 3 logos for Curious Eats as in the crit the feedback said that although the colours were appropriate for the organic high quality foods, the did not make the logo stand out very well and weren't very exiting.

I had a look on Lovely Packaging again to see the variations of colours that other designers have used, and I also had a look on Kulur for other combinations. I want to keep the red / burgundy for the meats, the pink / purple for the treats but I am going to have a look to see what other colour may be appropriate for the eats. I have written which colour I am looking at in each of the designs underneath the images.

Yellow combined with the brown - natural but bright

Yellow and violet shades.

Purple and orange, the green of the veg and the red of the salami - I think that it all works really well.

The green - I think that it is too 'olive' like however it does look natural, I could maybe go a shade lighter than this.

A night rich pink / purple for the 'treats'/

I like the pastel combination of the range here.

The bright red / orage

This is a range that stands out in general, I dont think foiling has been used but the blending of colours makes it look like it has

The green and purple.

Curious Eats // Logo lettering design development

After both the crit with my tutor and the crit with my peers I have gone back and looked at other sources to see how I can develop the logo further.

Peter Horridge (http://www.horridge.com/) is someone I was told to look...

Rachel Yallop (http://www.rachelyallop.co.uk/) was someone else I was told to look at

More Music Logos

Looking at all the logos I have chosen to take inspiration from below, the majority of them have been enclosed in a circle with some form of distortion occuring. As for the main body of the text for the logo / brand, I am more drawn to light, sans-serif typefaces however I think that the logo itself will be a heavy weighted but adapted edition of a typeface.
for Blog

Selected few logos to take inspiration from and underneath each image I have written what I like about each.

Thin sans-serif typeface

The construction of 'amb' and how they link together.

The boldness of the logo and how it is enclosed in a cirle

The illustrative nature of the typeface and how it is sectioned off by two lines.

Combination of type and image

The distorted effect on the circle and the shape of the p.

Combination of logo and circle

Construction of the AAB within the circle

Combination of different sized sans-serif typeface.

Type and image, the way the M has been adapted and designed.

The circular frame to the logo and the distorted effect on it.

Idendity Research

Whilst designing the business cards I felt that it was important to also research into the designing the whole identity and promotional pack for a business, so you can see how to apply the branding across a range of print.

Meats and Treats Logo Research

Having created the main part of the logo, I am now looking into the logo and typefaces that are used for various food sectors (meats and treats / deserts) to see if I can try and create a separate identity for each of the food groups but still under the same brand identity.

The main logo is very illustrative, it uses a calligraphy typeface called Champignon, and because of this I have to be careful about using a typeface that is too decorative, flamboyant or noticeably serif.
